This fall, I'll be teaching The Quilted Story alongside Anne Luben, a fibers and printmaking artist at the Lawrence Arts Center. Classes begin Thursday, September 12, 2019 and will run for 12 weeks. Below is a description and here is a link to register.
Quilting and storytelling go hand-in-hand. In this class, we will look at how quilts tell stories by creating a quilt of our own. Throughout history, quilts have been used as forms of warmth, decoration, commemoration, political protest, and more. Not only do these works of art provide insight into the people who create them, they also reflect the historical, cultural, and social context of the time. By collaboratively selecting the design, materials, and content, students will have a unique opportunity to engage with the communal and creative aspects of the quiltmaking process.
